Forget Star Wars, here’s Honest Actors: Episode VIII. Starring Michaela Coel. Sponsored by TodayTix.
Michaela is a busy woman. So busy, in fact, that when I came out of the room following our interview at the Chewing Gum production office, Adam Buxton was waiting in line. His ramble chat has already gone out, and I’m happy to say, is a very different interview to the one that appears here.
This is another unique episode in the growing Honest Actors catalogue, as Michaela is by far the most recent graduate I have interviewed for the podcast. She is also the youngest. But that doesn’t mean she has any less to talk about, or any less hard-won wisdom to share. There’s no bullshit, she has a cracking turn of phrase, and it’s the only interview that starts with God talk. What’s not to like? Have a listen.
And is Christmas is a time for giving, I’m hoping some of you may be able to donate to my campaign to raise funds for ACT – the Actors’ Chrildrens Trust – by running in next year’s London Marathon.
If you’ve never heard of it, ACT provides grants and support for actors’ children up to the age of 21, presently helping over 200 babies, kids and young people. Some are orphans, others are fighting illness such as cancer, some have been abused, others need sponsorship to pursue their talents. Like listeners of the podcast, ACT understands that almost every actor will experience times of hardship; for 120 years, it has been working hard to limit the impact of our precarious industry on the families who otherwise might fall through the cracks.
That’s it from me. The next episode will be with you in the new year. Until then, thanks for listening, and have a great Crimbo.
